Performance Opportunities

Our 2025-26 performance season is coming! 

 

SPRING SHOWCASE

Downtown Dance offers students several performance opportunities each year. Children's classes present an end of term demonstration for friends and family during class time on the last day of Fall and Winter terms. All students (age 3-adult) are encouraged to participate in the Spring Showcase each June at the Corvallis High School Theatre.

Our Spring term culminates in this performance at the CHS Theater in June. Students are not required to participate, but classes will focus more on this process in spring than previous terms. There are many benefits to being part of the showcase and we strongly encourage participation. It not only serves as an educational tool, but as a way to explore dance as a performance art…and it is fun!

While preparations for the show do not begin until Winter term, it is our intention that students participate in classes for the full year, with an opportunity for in class performances in fall and winter to prepare for the final performance at the end of spring term. The fall and winter terms offer a foundation of technique, while the spring term focuses primarily on the performance. Students not enrolled in a class by winter term may not be able to join during spring term.

Spring Showcase Timeline (2026)

  • February- commitment form and initial costume fee due, classes begin work on showcase material
  • March- Costumes ordered
  • April- classes increase time spent on showcase material
  • May- final costume fee due, classes continue preparations for the show
  • SHOWCASE 2026:  June 12th & 13th  at CHS Theater

REPERTORY GROUPS -   

We have several Repertory Groups that are open to students  enrolled in at least one class each term. These performance groups are by audition and they perform in various local dance performances. Our season will kick off at the Majestic Theatre in "Making Spirits Bright: A Winter Dance Concert",  December 6th & 7th, 2025. Other performance opportunities may include Terpsichore in April, 2026 at the Majestic and our Spring Showcase June 12 & 13, 2026  at CHS.

Leap

Little Dancers’ Education And Performance Group

This group offers an extra performance opportunity for our younger dancers and meets only in fall term. Dancers will perform a holiday piece at the Majestic Theater in December.

Age: 8-11 yrs
Cost: $140
Audition Fee: $10
Costume Fee: TBD

Youth Repertory Group

CONTEMPORARY REPERTORY GROUP 

Choreographer: Cheliss Thayer and Jenna Moser

Director: Katherine Sanders

Placement by audition. There will be two performance groups, one led by Jenna will begin in September and perform in December, June and possibly April. Another, led by Cheliss, will begin later in the fall term and perform in April and June.

Age: 12+
Cost: $150- rehearsal session, $60-65 - commencing/continuing sessions
Audition: $10
